Why Be Sick? Sleep and Be Well.

Soon the freeze will start to melt and we'll finally find ourselves surrounded by flowers, sunshine, and open-toe shoes! But while we get through these last few weeks, it's important to keep the last of the cold and flu germs at bay. Here are some easy and natural ways to do just that:

- Wash your hands. Washing your hands frequently throughout the day to keep from spreading any contact germs or allergens. Kids are typically the worst offenders, so teach them to sing the 'Happy Birthday' song and then you'll be sure they're washing long enough to kill bacteria.
- Breathe through your nose. Mouth breathing is not only unpleasant for those around you, but your nasal passages actually humidify and clean the air we breathe; so you are more likely to get sick by breathing in germs through your mouth versus your nose.
- Use nasal sprays. Saline nasal sprays are a great way for both adults and kids to flush out airborne pollutants and moisturize the nasal passages. This keeps them functioning at optimal levels.
- Protect your body. Your immune system can work best when you take care of yourself. Regular exercise, a balanced diet, staying hydrated and getting the right amount of sleep will help your body fight off cold and flu germs quicker and more effectively.
