Season of Giving - NYC
by guest blogger Rachel Button, NYC Showroom Manager
As part of our continuing Thanksgiving series about giving back to our local communities, we reached out to Rachel, in our Manhattan location, to find out ways in which they gave back in 2014. She writes:
Here in Manhattan we took part in the Ronald McDonald House Silent Auction in October. Power of Your Purse, as it was called, was held at The Doubles Club to benefit resident families with a family member battling childhood cancer. The highlight of the evening was a silent auction of new and gently-used designer handbags and other items, with proceeds supporting programs and services provided to families staying at the house.
The Clean Bedroom donated a wonderful Mulberry West Silk Comforter. My brother, his wife and their children stayed at a Ronald McDonald house while their son was in the hospital, so I can honestly say that those houses are a true blessing! My brother's family had wonderful feedback about the particular house they stayed at and we really jumped at the chance to help raise awareness and money for such a great cause.
Additionally, all of us in the TCB family personally support different organizations, missions, or causes. Myself, I support a boy in Guatemala so he can go to school and eat two hot meals a day while at school.
I met Santos a few years ago when I visited there and have supported him for three years now. He loves playing soccer and wants to be a lawyer or a teacher when he grows up! It is so nice to see him grow up and know that I have had a hand in giving him opportunities he might not otherwise have had without such support.
In 2015, I am excited about the ways in which I will be able to continue the trend of giving back to my community...and to Santos.
