Organic Mattresses

Because we sleep away about one-third of our lives, that’s why! An organic mattress supports your health. While we sleep, our immune system recovers and prepares for the day ahead. If your mattress is filled with airborne allergens and chemical toxins, your immune system will battle these toxins rather than repair itself. Which sounds better to you?

While a typical mattress may include harmful elements such as polyurethane foam, toxic flame retardants, or stain-resistant chemicals, an organic mattress is free from those elements to allow you a healthier night of rest. Best of all, organic mattresses are made with materials that are all-natural, clean, and free of chemicals — the cotton is grown without pesticides; the latex is free of synthetics; and for fire protection, pure wool is used instead of harsh retardants.

Easy choice isn’t it? An all-natural mattress may cost more initially, but you should think of your health as an investment similar to the purchase of your family car: investing in safety, comfort, and peace of mind is always worth the extra money spent. Remember you’ll be sleeping on your natural mattress for 10 years or more — longer than you’ll drive your car — so invest wisely and sleep well!

To assist you, we offer a wide selection of the most trusted brands in the industry of safe, healthy sleeping. With a range of sizes and mattress types available, you are sure to find the right choice. Whether looking for firm support or a little extra cushioning with deep pocketed surfaces, you will find it with our selection of organic mattresses. With options ranging from quilted top mattresses to organic latex, find the safe sleeping alternative to your current mattress. We have options for the entire family with baby, kids, and all the way to California king sizes available.

What is an organic mattress?

An organic mattress is defined as being free of synthetic materials, no chemical treatments, no toxic flame retardants, and complying with organic standards. Made with organic components, typically organic cotton, organic wool, and organic rubber(latex), these materials are grown and raised on farms that utilize a chemical-free process without the use of pesticides. They are hypo-allergenic, biodegradable, and have long lifespans.

Why are organic mattresses important?

Organic mattresses are important for both your health and the earth. They help reduce your carbon footprint and emit fewer harmful toxins in the air. They are renewable and according to the Organic Trade Association, organic production systems replenish and maintain soil fertility, use natural fertilizers in place of toxic pesticides and fertilizers, and build biologically diverse agriculture. Organic mattresses also help you commit to healthier overall well being by elevating and prioritizing your sleep.

What materials are considered organic?

Organic mattresses are composed of organic materials, typically cotton, wool, and latex. A material is considered organic if it is cultivated without the use of pesticides and is manufactured through chemical-free processes. GOTS-certified (for cotton and wool) and GOLS-certified (for latex) labels are the gold standard for organic certification in the industry.

Is an organic mattress worth the investment?

Absolutely. Considering that you spend ⅓ of your life sleeping, it is critical to make sure that the mattress you are sleeping on is made with clean and healthy materials. Traditional mattresses generally utilize many petroleum-based foams and chemical flame retardants that emit harmful off-gassing. Truly organic mattresses are free of these harmful ingredients and offer many other benefits such as being hypoallergenic, durable, and above all, extremely comfortable.

Are organic mattresses comfortable?

Yes, they certainly are comfortable. The use of these organic materials helps with issues such as pressure point relief, optimal lumbar support, and breathability as well. Of course, not all brands are created equal, and doing your research is important. Each brand offers various configurations and firmness levels so you will want to research carefully. Visiting a local retailer that offers multiple brands is always helpful. If you don’t have a store near you then its best to call and speak with someone who can help guide you towards a choice that is best for you.

How long do organic mattresses last?

Another great thing about an organic mattress is the long term durability. All-natural materials last longer than synthetic materials in general. Many brands have an expected life span of ten years and the best brands offer 20-year warranties. Compared to traditional mattresses which generally have a 6-8 year lifespan – just another reason why an organic mattress is a great long term investment in your health and well being.

Do you have to flip or rotate an organic mattress?

No. The vast majority of organic mattresses do not require you to flip or rotate them. In general, they require very little if any maintenance at all.
