All Savvy Rest natural latex mattresses are made with 3" layers of natural latex inserted into a zippered organic cotton & wool outer casing. Organic wool is used as a flame retardant.

You and your partner choose how soft or firm you want each side of your mattress to be. You do that by deciding how many 3" layers of latex you want and if you want them soft, medium, or firm.

Here is how it is done:

• We start with a casing made of organic wool quilted to organic cotton. You decide how many layers of 3" natural latex you want inside it. Most people go with the 6" natural latex mattress called the Tranquility (2 layers of latex) or the 9" natural latex mattress (3 layers of latex) called the Serenity.
• You decide on how you want the layers configured — firm, medium, soft.
• Your mattress arrives in boxes — usually one layer of latex per box and one box for the casing. The latex is all labeled soft, medium or firm.
• Lay out the casing on your bed. Remove the zipper cover. Place the latex inside. At first it will look like the casing is too small. It's made that way so the finished latex mattress is properly tailored. You can move the latex around and squish it a bit, but it will fit. Normally you will want to place the firmer layers of latex on the bottom and softer on the top.
• Zip the cover back on the top. It's designed this way so you can air out or have it Eco-dry cleaned.
