WHY SHOULD YOU CHOOSE AN ORGANIC MATTRESS FROM THE CLEAN BEDROOM?

All the organic mattresses we sell are made with materials found in nature: wool, cotton, all-natural rubber. Our mattresses have no chemical flame retardants. No PBDEs. No blended latex. You won’t find soy-based foam. Only eco-friendly materials.

We’ve been in the business since 2004, and have over 100 years of combined experience among our associates. We choose the brands we sell very carefully. Rather than getting a trade show sales pitch, we visited the factories of the organic industry’s leading mattress and bedding manufacturers. We needed to know how they handled the materials, how clean were their warehouses. How many people did they have on staff? We had to see for ourselves, the quality of their construction.

After all our research, Obasan, Vispring, Royal Pedic, Savvy Rest and Naturepedic were clear winners. They use only the purest materials. They make beautiful mattresses. They stand behind their warranties. All are important things to consider when choosing an organic mattress.

You can feel confident with the quality of product you will receive here at The Clean Bedroom. Have we answered your questions? If not, give us a call at (212) 764-3232.

Note: We have a strict no returns policy on used mattresses, toppers, and bedding for sanitary reasons. However, several of our mattress brands have some kind of adjustment policy so that you will be happy with your purchase.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is an organic mattress?

An organic mattress is defined as being free of synthetic materials, no chemical treatments, no toxic flame retardants, and complying with organic standards. Made with organic components, typically organic cotton, organic wool, and organic rubber(latex), these materials are grown and raised on farms that utilize a chemical-free process without the use of pesticides. They are hypo-allergenic, biodegradable, and have long lifespans.

Why are organic mattresses important?

Organic mattresses are important for both your health and the earth. They help reduce your carbon footprint and emit fewer harmful toxins in the air. They are renewable and according to the Organic Trade Association, organic production systems replenish and maintain soil fertility, use natural fertilizers in place of toxic pesticides and fertilizers, and build biologically diverse agriculture. Organic mattresses also help you commit to healthier overall well being by elevating and prioritizing your sleep.

What materials are considered organic?

Organic mattresses are composed of organic materials, typically cotton, wool, and latex. A material is considered organic if it is cultivated without the use of pesticides and is manufactured through chemical-free processes. GOTS-certified (for cotton and wool) and GOLS-certified (for latex) labels are the gold standard for organic certification in the industry.

Is an organic mattress worth the investment?

Absolutely. Considering that you spend ⅓ of your life sleeping, it is critical to make sure that the mattress you are sleeping on is made with clean and healthy materials. Traditional mattresses generally utilize many petroleum-based foams and chemical flame retardants that emit harmful off-gassing. Truly organic mattresses are free of these harmful ingredients and offer many other benefits such as being hypoallergenic, durable, and above all, extremely comfortable.

Are organic mattresses comfortable?

Yes, they certainly are comfortable. The use of these organic materials helps with issues such as pressure point relief, optimal lumbar support, and breathability as well. Of course, not all brands are created equal, and doing your research is important. Each brand offers various configurations and firmness levels so you will want to research carefully. Visiting a local retailer that offers multiple brands is always helpful. If you don’t have a store near you then its best to call and speak with someone who can help guide you towards a choice that is best for you.

How long do organic mattresses last?

Another great thing about an organic mattress is the long term durability. All-natural materials last longer than synthetic materials in general. Many brands have an expected life span of ten years and the best brands offer 20-year warranties. Compared to traditional mattresses which generally have a 6-8 year lifespan – just another reason why an organic mattress is a great long term investment in your health and well being.

Do you have to flip or rotate an organic mattress?

No. The vast majority of organic mattresses do not require you to flip or rotate them. In general, they require very little if any maintenance at all.
